Cosmetic Surgery is a highly competitive and lucrative field, thus finding the right surgeon who can understand your needs and work within your budget frame can be a daunting task. The best way to select your surgeon is by doing your research correctly. Interview at least two or three plastic surgeons and thoroughly inspect examples of the work done by them in the past. Before and after pictures of the surgeon’s clients merely give a gist of the work done by him/her! Also, conduct a check with your state’s medical board to verify the surgeon’s board certification, education as well as license. Apart from this, personal recommendation can also help tremendously. Talk to a friend who has undergone a surgical treatment from a particular doctor. Family doctors as well as other doctor acquaintances can also help you make the right choice. If the surgeon has privileges at a hospital to perform surgical treatments you are considering, then it would be wiser to consider him.
Questions to ask while interviewing a Cosmetic Surgeon

- Has the surgeon practiced for many years, or performed many surgical procedures?

- What is the final cost of the surgery? (This includes the surgeon's fee, operating room, anesthesia, etc.)
- Are you permitted to view before and after pictures of previous patients? Is a computer imager utilized to improve communication between you and the surgeon?
- Does the surgeon feel comfortable in answering your questions?
- Are the surgeon's answers realistic and professional?
Keeping these points aside, make sure you don’t consult a surgeon with a pre-conceived notion in mind. It has been observed that many people see a new, trendy operation on T.V and would like the same treatment performed on them. This is not right and can in fact be harmful for you. Informing and discussing with your surgeon what you are most dissatisfied with can be better for your own interest.
Be fully satisfied with yourself that you like the results of the doctor's work. Sharing a good rapport with your surgeon can also lead you to confide about your fears better. Thus, you can be rest assured that you have made a rational, informed decision for yourself. Blindly taking someone else's recommendation can certainly lead to bad news for you.
